📌 Supported File Types

The file types below are currently supported by Smartling. Click the file name of each file type to learn how Smartling handles the content within the file, and what you can do to control it.

All Supported Files

* It's best to acquire the file in its original format, such as one of the supported file types above (most commonly, InDesign or Microsoft Word), and translate that file.

** TMX files can be uploaded by Account Owners and Project Managers by following steps to Import a TMX File.

Consult your Customer Success Manager about creating a custom upload template for any of the above file types. The custom upload template automatically applies specific directives of your choice to the file, upon upload to Smartling, saving you from having to manually apply the same directives to a certain file type.

Google Suite Files

The translation of Google Suite files, (Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides) are all supported via the Google Drive Connector.

Design Files

Smartling also supports the translation of native files from the following design applications via our pre-built design plugins:

• Adobe InDesign
• Figma
• Sketch
