In Smartling, there are six different user roles. Read our documentation on User Permissions for more information about each role's access.
User Permissions
As an Account Owner, Project Manager, or Agency Account Owner, you can change an active user's role.
Account Owners can change any user role to any user role.
Project Managers can change Project Manager and Requester users to any user role.
To change a linguist's user role, you must first remove the Translation Resource and Translation Resource Manager's user roles and re-invite them to the account.
The Translation Resource or Translation Resource Manager user will keep the same workflow assignments, even after their role has changed. You can update workflow assignments before or after changing the user's role.
Active Users
An active user is someone who has received a user invite and completed registration. Their user tile displays their name instead of "user invited".
Inactive (top) vs Active Users (bottom)
If you need to change an inactive user role, click the tile and cancel the invite. Then, invite the user to a new role.
How to Change a User's Role
- Go to Team > Users
- Click the name of the user
- Near the top right of the page, click Change Role
- Select the new user role
- Click Change Role
