Smartling's AI Hub allows you to manage your global machine and LLM translation configurations. From the Settings menu of the AI Hub, you can:
- Manage your provider credentials to access the MT provider or LLM of your choice (from the Credentials tab)
- Create MT Profiles to customize the translation output (from the Translation Profiles tab), and then
- Assign each MT Profile to a range of machine translation integrations to display machine translations where they are needed (from the Instant MT tab).
How to access your AI Hub Settings
From the top navigation bar of your Smartling dashboard, access the AI Hub.
Here, you can configure your MT and LLM translation settings:
LLM Providers
Smartling’s AI Toolkit, AI-powered workflows, and LLM integrations use Large Language Models from various providers to enhance cost savings and to improve the quality of your machine translations. By default, Smartling is LLM-agnostic and automatically selects the best-performing model for each AI feature.
If your organization has specific privacy and security policies, you can choose your preferred LLM providers to use with the AI Toolkit, with AI-powered workflows and with Smartling's LLM integrations.
For more details, see LLM Provider Settings: Choose Your Preferred LLM Providers.
Credentials
To access and use an MT provider or LLM of your choice*, you will need to store your provider key and credentials in Smartling. This can be done from the Credentials tab of the AI Hub.
*See a list of supported MT providers and LLMs here

The provider credentials can then be added to a Translation Profile and used for translation in Smartling.
Translation Profiles
Once the provider credential has been saved successfully, it can now be used to create a Translation Profile (also referred to as "MT Profile"). An MT Profile allows you to configure additional preferences to further customize the translation output.
In the Translation Profiles tab, you can also find Smartling's proprietary MT Profile, Smartling Auto Select, which intelligently routes your content to the highest performing MT provider for each language.
Tip: For more information on creating and managing MT Profiles, please visit this article.
Your MT Profiles can then be used to translate your content, by using an MT workflow, by providing MT suggestions to your linguists in the CAT Tool, or by using one of Smartling's MT integrations that display machine translations directly where they are needed.
Instant MT
From the Instant MT tab, you can enable and configure the MT Profiles you want to use to translate your content with one of Smartling's MT integrations, or to provide MT suggestions in the CAT Tool.
Click into the following tabs to configure the MT Profile you want to use for each area:
- CAT Tool
- Smartling Translate
- MT API
- GDN
- Zendesk Support Plugin
- ServiceNow Connector
- Salesforce Service Cloud Connector
With these integrations, content is not uploaded to Smartling in the form of strings and does not go through a translation workflow. Instead, machine translations are displayed directly where they are needed, with minimal configuration for near-instant results.
Tip: You can also configure language-specific MT Profiles for each integration.
