The Account Dashboard provides an overview of all activities within your Smartling account. It offers an easy way to identify usage patterns over time, helping you make informed decisions based on activity trends.
We recommend using the Account Dashboard as a starting point when you log into your Smartling account to easily identify and access high-traffic pages and resolve bottlenecks or issues.
You can view metrics on unresolved Issues and upcoming Job deadlines, as well as quickly navigate to important settings pages and reports. Additionally, the dashboard provides an easy way to monitor your subscription usage, allowing you to avoid unexpected overages.
Who can access the Account Dashboard?
The Account Dashboard is available to Account Owners and Project Managers:
- For users with an Account Owner role, the Account Dashboard provides a holistic overview of all activities across the entire account.
- For users with a Project Manager role, the Account Dashboard displays activities across all Projects that the user has been given access to.
Other user roles (Content Viewers, Requesters, Agency Owners, Translation Resource Managers, Translation Resources) do not have access to this Account Dashboard.

Usage
The Usage widget in the Account Dashboard helps you keep track of your Smartling word capacity bundles.
In addition to your Smartling platform subscription, you can purchase a pre-defined number of Processed Words, MT words and/or AI Toolkit words. These capacity bundles help keep track of how much content gets translated in your Smartling account - either with Machine Translation, with one of our AI features, or by a human translator. Any packages can be purchased separately based on your translation needs, and can be used during the duration of your Smartling platform subscription.
The Usage widget shows how much capacity has been used up for each of these bundles. You can check both the percentage and the actual number of words used.
Note: The Usage widget always displays the account-wide usage percentages. For Project Managers, the usage percentages displayed here are not limited only to Projects they have access to.
A warning sign is displayed once the usage capacity for your account is running low or has been reached:
We recommend reaching out to your Customer Success Manager to discuss your options to keep translating content in Smartling.
Info: Paid-off overages may still be included in the usage numbers displayed on this page. If you require any clarifications, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
MT words used
This widget shows which percentage of your MT words capacity has already been consumed. Hover over the percentage bar to display the actual number of MT words consumed, as well as the total number of MT words included in your current capacity bundle.
MT words refer to the number of words that were translated by an MT provider, by using either a Machine Translation workflow or one of Smartling’s account-wide MT integrations (including Smartling Translate, Smartling's Zendesk Support Plugin, site-wide machine translation for the GDN, dynamic translation with the ServiceNow Connector, and translations using Smartling’s Machine Translation API).
MT suggestions in the CAT Tool, strings using TM Match Insertion, strings using the Copy Source-to-Target profile, as well as translations using Smartling’s AI Translation (AIT) or AI-Powered Human Translation (AIHT) workflows do not count towards your MT words capacity.
AI Toolkit words used
This widget shows the number of words that went through a translation step where at least one feature of Smartling’s AI Toolkit is enabled.
Translations using Smartling’s AI-Powered Human Translation workflow (AIHT) or other workflows managed by Smartling Language Services are not counted towards your AI Toolkit usage.
Processed words used
This widget shows which percentage of your processed words capacity has already been consumed. Hover over the percentage bar to display the actual number of processed words consumed, as well as the total number of processed words included in your current capacity bundle.
Processed words refer to the number of translated words that a human translator (or third-party provider) has interacted with.
This includes the first instance of a translation being saved manually in the CAT Tool or Strings View (regardless of whether it was submitted or not, and regardless of the workflow step the translation is saved in), the import of Jobs for offline translation, as well as any instances of SmartMatched translations or translations imported from a resource file being edited manually in Smartling.
MT words and AI Toolkit words without human interaction are not counted towards your Processed words capacity.
Tip: You can find a detailed explanation of processed words here.
