As a collaborative project management software, Adobe Workfront allows teams to plan and manage the entire lifecycle of a variety of projects, including translation management.
The Connector provides a direct integration between Adobe Workfront and Smartling's Translation Management System, which is designed to automate and optimize your translation project management.
Please note that this Connector is a paid product. For pricing information, please reach out to your Smartling Customer Success Manager.
How the Connector Works
Smartling’s Workfront Connector provides an easy-to-use translation portal by allowing Workfront users to send files for translation directly from within Adobe Workfront. The files are automatically uploaded to Smartling, where they get translated using your preferred workflow for each target language.
Each step of the translation process is enhanced by Smartling’s Translation Management System, offering benefits such as comprehensive linguistic assets, a flexible workflow setup and visual context.
The translation status can be checked in real time directly from within Workfront.
Once a file has been fully translated and completed for one of the requested languages, the translated file is automatically delivered back to Workfront.
Supported File Formats
The Workfront Connector supports the translation of all file types and formats that are compatible with Smartling.
During the Connector configuration process, your Smartling representative can set up templates using file directives to ensure that the uploaded files will be parsed correctly. For example, it is possible to customize which elements within your files should remain untranslated or parsed as metadata or placeholders.
Job Attachments
Some commonly used file types (e.g. PDF documents, INDD or IDML files) often require a post-translation formatting process, which is usually referred to as “DTP (Desktop Publishing)”, to produce a fully formatted, localized output file.
In order for your translation vendor to be able to carry out DTP, the original source file, as well as design resources such as fonts, images and design packages, need to be attached to the translation Job. The Workfront Connector can be configured to allow for Job attachments to be added to your translation requests, enabling your translation vendor to retrieve all necessary resources to carry out DTP.
