Account Owners who are not using Smartling's Language Services for translation services can create a rate card which allows for cost estimates to anticipate translation costs before work begins, removing the need to manually calculate costs offline.
In Smartling, a third-party translation agency is found under Agencies within Teams. Freelance translation resources are listed as Translation Resource users, under People within Teams.

- Currency (required): Choose one from the dropdown menu.
- Content Type (required): The content type must match the workflow settings to which the agency/user is assigned. See Create a Workflow for more information.

- Translation, Editing, Review, Post-Edit, Internal Review, Quality Evaluation, Desktop Publishing: The rate per word or hour (or non-payable) for each applicable workflow step.
Considerations
If you are adding a rate for an agency, break down the translation cost per workflow step that the agency is responsible for in their workflow(s).
If you are adding a rate for an individual Translator, only add the rate for their workflow step.
In Smartling, adding translation rates to a rate card allows you to create cost estimates to anticipate translation costs before work begins, removing the need to manually calculate costs offline. Rate changes occur over time, so you can update or delete active rate cards.
