The Smartling Yext Connector allows users to translate the metadata information that is stored about the property.
Please note that this Connector is a paid product. For pricing information, please reach out to your Smartling Customer Success Manager.
To connect your Yext account to your Smartling account, follow these simple steps for both platforms:

- You can check your Yext team's user permissions under Account Settings > User Management.
- You can edit any user by clicking their name.
Next, configure their permissions to allow them to access the Smartling Connector.
- Go to Account Settings > Role Management > Edit Role
- Under Platform, scroll to App Directory
- Enable Apps Install/Uninstall
- Click Save
Finally, ensure Multi-Language Profiles is switched on in your Account Settings
- Go to Account Settings > Account Features
- Enable Multi-Language Profiles
- Click Save
In Smartling - Create a Yext Project and Authenticate Yext
Smartling Project setup
In your Smartling account, an Account Owner user can create a Yext Project and give other users access to this project under Team > Users.
The Smartling Account Owner and Project Manager users (with access) must have the correct Yext user role and permissions as outlined above.
Smartling Project Settings
When the project is set up, Account Owner and Project Manager users can then Authenticate Yext under Project Settings > Yext Settings > Connect with OAth
Once both platforms are connected, you can proceed to configure the Yext Settings in Smartling. Further information on the concept of each of the connector settings can be found in Smartling's Hosted Connector Configuration article. Yext Settings in Smartling include;
General
Configure the behavior of the Yext Connector when the source content changes.
Language Configuration
Source locale mapping will already be correctly configured once the platforms are connected
Choose the correct Yext target locale to match against the list of target locales already configured in the Smartling project. You do not need to map all locales listed, however, you'll be unable to submit content for translation into any locale that is not mapped.
Additional Yext Fields
Additional Yext Fields are the custom fields created in your Yext account, which are used to add additional information to the entities in your account for internal use. Once you add custom fields in your Yext account, these can be mapped to your Smartling Yext project.
To map a Yext custom field to Smartling;
- Go to the Yext project in Smartling
- Click the Settings tab > Yext Settings
- Under Additional Yext Fields, simply type the custom fields
- Click Save
These custom fields will then be listed under Additional Yext Fields in your Yext assets page, as an additional filter. You can then use these fields to search for content for translation.
To remove a Yext custom field from Smartling;
- Go to the Yext project in Smartling
- Click the Settings tab > Yext Settings
- Under Additional Yext Fields, simply X the custom field you no longer need in your Yext assets page
- Click Save
