As Smartling's communication feature, Issues allow everyone involved in the localization process to ask questions about the text to translate, report any problematic source strings, or provide feedback about an existing translation.
Smartling Issue Management for Jira is an innovative integration that allows you to monitor and manage Issues directly in Atlassian's Jira platform. This integration empowers members of both communities to seamlessly collaborate on queries, comments and feedback that are brought up during the translation process. By synchronizing data between Smartling and Jira, users can efficiently address and resolve translation-related challenges, ensuring smoother localization processes and faster time-to-market for global content.
How it works
With this integration, both Source Issues and Translation Issues can be tracked and managed in Jira.

Tracking Issues in Jira
When a new Issue is created in Smartling, a ticket is automatically opened in the associated Jira project. This allows Jira users to monitor and manage translation queries and feedback, even if they don't have a Smartling user account.
Tip: In order for the integration to work, the Issue must originate in the Smartling platform. If an Issue is first opened in Jira, this is not reflected in Smartling.
Responding to Issues
By leaving a comment on the Jira ticket, a response to the Issue is automatically recorded as a comment in Smartling.
For any updates and comments to an Issue, all of the regular email notifications are sent to the Smartling users involved in the translation of the relevant string, as per their personal notification settings. If the Jira user replying to an Issue does not have a Smartling user account, the Issue notification shows that the comment was "Sent by Jira Integration".
Resolving Issues
Once sufficient clarifications have been provided, Issues can be marked as "Done" in Jira. This action automatically marks the Issue as "Resolved" in Smartling.
Similarly, if an Issue is marked as "Resolved" by a Smartling user, the status of the associated Jira ticket is automatically set to "Done".
Configuration
Smartling Issue Management for Jira can be configured for both Jira Server (on-premise) and Jira Cloud.
Info: To get started, please reach out to your Smartling representative, who will be able to set up the integration for your account.
For full flexibility, multiple profiles per can be configured for each Jira connection.
During the configuration process, Issues from each of your Smartling projects will be mapped to the desired Jira project(s). Depending on your preferences, it is possible to configure Issues from each Smartling project to be sent to a different Jira project, or to the same Jira project.
A range of optional fields can be displayed in Jira, to allow you to capture all relevant Issue data.
