Enable email notifications to help stay on top of events occurring in your account. Notification settings can be customized on a per-project basis.
Ensure no-reply@smartling.com is added to your list of accepted senders.
To enable and configure notifications for your Smartling account, please follow the below steps.
1. Access Notification Settings (New Experience)
From the dropdown next to your name, access the Notification Settings.
2. Enable Notifications for your account
To enable Smartling to send you email notifications, ensure that your Global Notification Preferences are switched on in the Global tab. This setting must be enabled for any notification to be sent (excluding Issue watcher notifications).
You have the option to set a daily limit for emails received, as well as set up an alternative email address to receive notifications. Click Save Changes to ensure updates are saved.
3. Configure Global Notification Preferences
In the Global tab, scroll down to configure your preferences for all notifications and delivery options. Unless specified otherwise in the Project tab (as per step 4), these preferences will apply across all projects. Any changes here are saved automatically.
Notifications can be switched off (by selecting No Notifications), switched on for all notifications.
4. Configure Project Notifications
Once your Global Notification Settings are switched on and configured, you can choose which customer projects you want to receive notifications for in the Project tab.
- To receive all messages as per your Global Notification Preferences, select Global
- To receive no messages for a particular project, select Mute project
Notification Options
If you have received any of the following notifications and noticed the information in the email is different from what you're seeing in the platform, it could be due to any of the following features: SmartMatch behavior, Dynamic Workflows, or Notification timing.
Depending on your role, you will see one or more of the following notification options:

When content has been waiting in a workflow step for the duration specified by the customer's idle string rule, and has not been worked on, this notification is sent to the linguists assigned to the workflow step to inform them that there is content waiting for them.

When content has been waiting in a workflow step for the duration specified by the customer's idle string rule, and has been automatically moved to the next step, this notification is sent to the linguists assigned to the Workflow step to inform them that the content has been moved, and they can no longer work on the translations.

Delivery options
Near real-time
This is a high-frequency notification, sent within minutes of the event occurring in Smartling.
Hourly
New events are batched up and the summary of the event's occurrences is sent hourly if the event happened at all.
Daily
New events are batched up and the summary of the event's occurrences is sent once a day if the event happened at all.
Access and configure Notification Settings (Classic Experience)
If you are using the Classic Smartling Experience, please follow these steps to enable and configure notifications for your account.
1. From the dropdown next to your name, access your Profile.
2. To enable Smartling to send you email notifications, ensure that your Global Notification Preferences are switched on.
This setting must be enabled for any notification to be sent (excluding Issue watcher notifications).
You have the option to set a daily limit for emails received, as well as set up an alternative email address to receive notifications. Click Save Changes to ensure updates are saved.
3. You can then customize your notification preferences for each customer project.
To do so, click the Projects dropdown and select the relevant project. Click the dropdown menu beside your name and select Project Notifications.
