The Smartling HubSpot connector allows you to translate HubSpot content in Smartling. Translations are requested from within Smartling, and translated content is sent back to your HubSpot instance.
The connector supports the translation of emails, forms, landing pages, blogs, and web pages.
To link your HubSpot account to Smartling, complete all sections below.
Set Up Smartling HubSpot Connector
- Log in to HubSpot.
- Log in to Smartling and create a HubSpot project type in your Smartling account.
- From within this project, click HubSpot > Translate Content.
- Authorize Smartling to access your HubSpot account by clicking Login to HubSpot.
- On the next screen, select the HubSpot project you just created in Smartling.
- Click Connect.
- Click Authorize to confirm the connection.
Your HubSpot and Smartling accounts are now connected and your HubSpot content will be pulled into Smartling. You can manage your configuration for each content type from the Hubspot Settings;
- In Smartling, go to your HubSpot project
- Click the gear icon, and choose Project Settings > Hubspot Settings
Configurations
Changed Content Behavior
You can configure the behavior of the connector when your source content changes.
Changed Content behaviors:
- Auto: detects changes to source content every 3 hours, and submits the new content for translation. The connector will not detect net new content, only updates to content that have been submitted for translation in the past.
- Manual: detects changes to source content every 3 hours, and will not submit new content for translation.
- Disabled: do not detect changes.
If you would like Smartling to change the default frequency of 3 hours, insert your required cron frequency here.
Click Save after making any changes.
Locale Mapping
Configurations for locale mapping for each content types are listed in the tabs.
You will have already set up your chosen source and target languages from within your HubSpot account. Ensure Smartling is reading your HubSpot locales correctly by completing the Source Language (Hubspot) and Target Languages (Hubspot) fields.
Depending on which content type you are translating, locale mapping is done as outlined below.
Form / Email / Website Page / Landing Page
- Your target locale for these content types can be uniquely referenced within Hubspot (eg: German could be referenced as de, DE, GER, or German in your HubSpot account).
- Ensure that your unique reference is copied exactly over to Smartling in the Target Languages (Hubspot) field. This will then be visible to you on your translated email/form file.
Page (Old Asset Type)
- Pages should be requested under Website Page or Landing Page asset type, please review info on translating pages here.
- Choose the correct source locale set up on your HubSpot account from the Source Language (Hubspot) dropdown.
- Choose the correct target locale set up on your HubSpot account from the Target Languages (Hubspot) dropdown.
BlogPosts
- The source locale will be the source blog in your HubSpot account.
- Choose the correct source blog set up on your HubSpot account from the Source Language (Hubspot) dropdown.
- Choose the correct target locale set up on your HubSpot account from the Target Languages (Hubspot) dropdown.

HubSpot OAuth
To disconnect this integration with Smartling, click Disconnect from Hubspot
Filter by Domain
If you have multiple domains in your HubSpot account and want to view website and landing pages from only one specific domain, you can select it using the dropdown menu. Otherwise, website and landing pages from all domains across your HubSpot business units will be visible and available for translation in your Smartling project.
Smartling Settings
Auto-Authorize Content
You can choose to automatically authorize any new content for translation. If this setting is disabled, any content submitted from Hubspot to Smartling will sit in the Awaiting Authorization queue until a user manually authorizes the job for translation.
Talk to your CSM about enabling auto-authorization.
Retrieval Types
Published: send only published translations to Hubspot
Pseudo: send pseudo translations to Hubspot so you can view the potential layout of your translated asset. This is useful for testing purposes, for example.
Pending: send any available translations to Hubspot, meaning all published and saved translations. This can lead to frequent overwriting of translations in Hubspot which may be problematic for email content as translations will not be updated after the asset has been sent from Hubspot
If you would like Smartling to change the default frequency of every hour on the 55th minute, insert your required cron frequency here.
Click Save after making any changes.
