Instant Translation for the Salesforce Commerce Cloud Connector

Learn how to generate on-demand translations for your Salesforce Commerce Cloud content without creating a translation job.

The Salesforce Commerce Cloud Connector supports Instant Translation, allowing you to generate translations without creating a translation job or moving content through a traditional workflow.

Instant Translation works the same way across all hosted connectors. For an overview of how it works and how to configure your MT engine or LLM provider, see Instant Translation for Connectors & Plugins.

Before you begin

If you have not already set up a Salesforce Commerce Cloud project in Smartling, follow the steps in Setting Up Your Salesforce Commerce Cloud Connector. Then configure your preferred MT or LLM Profile on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud tab of the AI Hub's Instant MT settings.

Instant translations are completed using the Profile configured in Instant MT settings. To configure your preferred MT or LLM translation provider, log into your Smartling account (requires Account Owner or Project Manager user role).

  • From the top navigation of your Smartling dashboard, access the AI Hub.

  • In the Instant MT section, select the Salesforce Commerce Cloud tab.
  • Here, enable Machine Translation for Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • Under Default Profile, choose your preferred MT Profile or LLM Profile.
    • If needed, language-specific Profiles can be configured.
  • Optionally, glossary terms can be inserted in machine translations.

Requesting and receiving instant translations

As a hosted connector, requesting and receiving instant translations with Salesforce Commerce Cloud follows the same process as every other hosted connector. For step-by-step instructions, see Instant Translation for Connectors & Plugins.

In short: from the Salesforce Commerce Cloud tab, select the assets you want to translate, then in the Actions menu select Request Instant Translation instead of adding the content to a job. Completed translations are delivered automatically back to your Salesforce Commerce Cloud environment, the same as with a standard translation request.
