As a content owner, you may want to categorize subsets of your content in a Project for quick and easy filtering in the future. For example, you may want to easily identify key SEO strings that are frequently audited. Smartling allows you to categorize your content using tags.
Considerations
- Tags are applied on a string-level. Meaning, when you add a tag to a string for one language, it is applied to the string for all languages.
- Tags are not case-sensitive, so searching by the upper case or lower case tags will return the same results.
- You can apply up to 250 tags per string.
- Each tag has a character limit of 127 characters.
Tag Strings
To apply tags to strings:
- In a project, click the Strings tab.
- Select the strings to which you want to add tags.
- Click Actions and select Edit Tags.
- Under Add Tags, enter the tag.

- In a project, click the Strings tab.
- With the Tags filter, select the tags to search for.
Use the Actions menu to apply different actions to a set of strings you have categorized with tags.
