The GDN Hub is a centralized space for managing your GDN (Global Delivery Network) projects. It allows you to view alerts and insights about your GDN sites and content, providing a unified dashboard for viewing key metrics and quickly accessing GDN tools.
From the GDN Hub, you can:
- View real-time performance metrics and alerts for your GDN sites
- Quickly access other GDN tools and configurations
- Navigate to the Smartling Help Center GDN Knowledge Base
- Access recently opened projects in your account
The GDN Hub serves as your central command center for GDN project management.
How to access the GDN Hub
Account Owners and Project Managers can access the GDN Hub within Smartling.
To access the GDN Hub:
- Navigate to Account Settings
- Under Integrations select GDN Hub
Navigating the GDN Hub
Status Monitor Dashboard
The landing page of the GDN Hub is the Status Monitor Dashboard. Here you will see a card for each of your sites that use the GDN.
Key metrics
Each site card displays the following key data points:
- Number of requests in the selected period (defaults to 24 hours) - Total traffic volume to your localized site
- Number of domains and target languages - Overview of your localized domain coverage
- Average total request time (in milliseconds) - Performance indicator for how quickly requests are being processed
- Graph of response codes in the selected period - Visual breakdown showing successful requests (200s), redirects (300s), client errors (400s), and server errors (500s)
To change the selected time period for your metrics: Click the time period toggle above the displayed cards. Your selection will be preserved when switching the project overview.
To change from card view to list view: Use the toggle next to the time period selector.
To navigate to a specific project: Click the explore icon at the top right of any site card to go directly to that Smartling project.
View more metrics
For detailed performance analysis, click View More in the bottom right of any site card to see the Status Monitor Project Overview page, which features a complete breakdown of all available metrics, including:
- Request volume and patterns
- Response times and codes
- System Health
For detailed information on these metrics, see the GDN Metrics Reference Sheet.
Reference Information
This section provides useful information about your GDN environment and traffic routing configuration.
IP Whitelist
To ensure uninterrupted service for your GDN localized sites, you must whitelist the IP addresses used by the proxies. This section displays the proxy IP addresses that need to be whitelisted.
Why whitelist IPs? Whitelisting ensures that your infrastructure services (WAF, CDN, bot protection, etc.) don't flag GDN traffic as malicious, which could result in either throughput throttling or request blocking.
CNAME Configuration
The CNAME Configuration section displays the CNAME assigned to your account and projects.
Understanding your CNAME setup:
- You may have more than one CNAME, particularly if your origin sites are hosted in different regions
- The CNAME serves as the entry point for traffic routed from your localized sites. In most cases, the same CNAME is used for all GDN projects and domains within your account.
- If this field is blank, your permanent CNAME has not yet been assigned. Please contact your Account Manager or Customer Success Manager for assistance. Once assigned, this is the CNAME you should use to route traffic to your localized sites.
GDN Hub Menu
The left-side panel of the GDN Hub lets you quickly navigate to additional GDN tools, resources, and recently visited projects.
Site crawler
The GDN Crawler is Smartling's automated web crawling tool that browses your website on a schedule to capture new content for translation.
How it works:
- Visits pages like a user would, systematically browsing your site
- Detects text that hasn't been translated yet
- Adds newly discovered content to your GDN project for translation
Configuration options:
- Crawl your entire site or specific paths
- Set crawl frequency based on how often you update content
Benefits: The crawler is especially useful for maintaining fully translated websites without relying on organic traffic to discover new content. Once the crawler finds new content, it appears in your project, awaiting authorization so you can create translation jobs.

Domain management
The GDN Domain Management page is where you manage your website domains that are integrated with the Global Delivery Network. This is the central place where you can:
- Set up localized domains for different languages
- Take localized domains offline or bring them live
- View domain status and environment information
The Domain Management page is primarily used during initial setup but also serves as an ongoing management tool for your translated websites. You can click on specific domains to view more detailed information.
