Shopify is an e-commerce platform that helps entrepreneurs, retailers, and global brands process sales, manage stores, and grow their businesses.
Smartling’s Shopify Connector enables merchants and business owners using Shopify to expand their reach to international markets by localizing content into multiple languages. This helps businesses enhance customer engagement and effectively serve global audiences.
Please note that this Connector is a paid product. For pricing information, please reach out to your Smartling Customer Success Manager.
How the Connector Works
Smartling’s Shopify Connector offers a seamless way to send Shopify content directly to Smartling for translation, with translations automatically delivered back to your Shopify environment. Content such as product descriptions, checkout pages, and more can be localized through a streamlined process that eliminates manual steps, accelerates translations, and ensures a consistent experience for your global customers.
Supported Content Types
Smartling's Shopify Connector currently supports the following content types:
Support for additional content types is planned for a future release. If you need to translate additional content types, please contact your Solution Architect or another Smartling representative.
Shopify Asset List
Once you have connected your Shopify account, your Shopify content will appear in the Shopify tab of your Smartling project.
The asset list includes the following columns:
- Title: the title of the asset in Shopify
- Status (Smartling): the asset's translation status in Smartling
- Tags: tags associated with the asset
- Modified (Shopify): the date the asset was last modified in Shopify
- Created: the date the asset was created in Shopify
Please note that the available columns may vary depending on the content type. Not all columns listed above are available for every content type.
When your Shopify content is pulled into Smartling for translation, it is imported as a JSON file. Each asset listed in your asset list corresponds to a JSON file in Smartling that contains the content for that item. Once translations for an asset are completed for a locale, the connector delivers the translations back to Shopify.
The file name in Smartling follows this format:Asset Name-Content Type-Content ID.json
