If your translations are stuck on a workflow step for a prolonged period of time, you do not have to wait for linguists to move translations along the workflow. Options include:
- Create an idle string rule (automated)
- Submit content to the next step in the workflow (manual)
- Change the workflow by moving content into a different workflow (manual)
- Move content to the Published Step (manual)
Submit Content to the Next Step in the Workflow
- In a Smartling a project, click the Strings tab.
- Click the checkbox for the translated strings you’d like to move along the workflow.
- Click Actions > Submit to Next Step.
You cannot submit content on the Processing step to the next step, as this happens automatically when processing is complete.
Change the Workflow
You can move content to a different workflow by doing the following:
- Select a project and click the Strings tab.
- Select the translated strings you'd like to move.
- Click the Actions menu and select Change Workflow.
- In the dialog that appears, under Workflow, select a workflow you want to move the content to.
- We recommend choosing the same workflow step first. If you would like to move the strings back in the workflow too, simply reject the strings when they are in the new workflow.
- Under Step, select the step in which you want the content to move to in the chosen workflow.
- Click Move.
Send Content to the Published Step in the Workflow
If your translated content is not in the final step in a workflow, you can bypass the remaining steps and move the content directly to the published step, as long as the strings have been translated.

- Select the translated strings you'd like to publish.
- Click the Actions menu and select Change Workflow.
- In the dialog that appears, under Workflow, select a workflow.
- Under Step, select Published.
- Click Move.
