The new and improved Smartling experience for Agency Owners and Translation Resource Managers is about to be rolled out. This article outlines the changes to expect, so you can continue to work in Smartling confidently.
Tip: The Classic Experience will be deprecated by Q4 of 2023. We recommend migrating to the New Experience as soon as possible.
What's New
It is likely that you are already familiar with much of the new Smartling experience.
The change will replace the classic experience of the Project Dashboard and List View with the new experience of the Project Summary page and Strings View.
The new Project Summary page
From the Project dropdown, click into a project to access the Project Summary page.
The new Project Summary page provides an overview of the activity within a particular project, which includes:
-
New Content: a word count of Jobs authorized in this project.
- If you notice content not in a job, we recommend reaching out to the Account Owner or Project Manager of the project
- Issues: a count of unresolved source and translation issues opened in this project
-
Jobs: a list of all Jobs in progress in this project
The new Strings View
Click into the Strings tab to access the Strings View for this project.
The Strings View is a list of all strings in this project, which your agency has access to.
The improved search and filters allow you to locate strings with ease.
The Strings View is also customizable, so you can choose what string information you see.
The Actions menu allows you to make single or bulk-actions on strings.
Actions include:
- Submit to Next Step: submit the selected string(s) to the next step in the workflow
- Edit Assignments: assign strings to a linguist on your team or unassign strings
- Reject Translation: send translations back in the workflow (if enabled on the workflow step)
- Export: export the selected string(s) in a CSV file format
- Add / Remove String Instructions: provide instructions for the translation of the selected string(s)
